It never fails. Right after periods of calmness and tranquility with my business, there is a crazy tornado of tasks, deadlines, new ideas, clients, engagements, content creation, marketing, sales, all with no end in sight. To add to the boss squall of TO-DOs are mama duties, wife duties, daughter duties, god mama duties, bestie duties, and the list goes on. I guess it is safe to assume that with everything on my plate, there are times when I feel absolutely overwhelmed. Well girl... guess what! I know that I'm not alone and there are many of you who are doing 5x's what I experience and keeping it all together seems like a miracle juggling act that you feel at any moment is going to end with a result of everything crashing down on you. How do I know, because I see you ladies, instagram posts of working out at the gym, working your business, playing UBER to kids who need to go to and fro for any number of reasons, and just like I said before, the list goes on and on. Clearly, we do not want you to feel overwhelmed. And above all else, we want you to be clear, sane, and focused and you can not be the focused boss we need you to be if you are walking around juggling 10 million balls in the air. So being that I always tend to find myself juggling 9.9 million balls and realizing quickly work to change that to I can be the most present, focused wife/mom boss I can be, I want to share these gems with you so you can be inspired to get a plan for you as well! Put All Your *ish on the Table and Put it in bucketsNow that it is clear that you are dealing with lots of tasks and you are on the verge of feeling a little bit all over the place. Let's be absolutely intentional by giving all that mess the right name. WHAT is all this mess. For me it was simple, my business was growing and the tasks to ensure smooth sailing for my clients and members were at risk, my home life was a mess so getting to things like sweeping and the laundry for my family of 4 seemed like a task that belonged wayyyyy on the back burner ( until the 5 year old realizes she doesn't have anymore clean underwear) , cooking seemed like a task that could never get done because who had time for that, and then gym time... well if I'm too tired at night and too tired in the morning when could I possibly get that in! So I had to put all of the *ish on the table but you can't stop there. If you stop there you end up looking at a jumbled mess of tasks that seem overwhelming and that could cause you to stroke out or shut down. Once you put everything on the table, you have to put the items in buckets. For me there are 4 buckets, Prestige Society, Doss Klan, Doss Headquarters, Me/Myself/I. Once I have the buckets, then I am able to take each thing and put it in its appropriate place. Having everything compartmentalized allows me to see the forest from the trees. Now it's time for the good stuff! Figure out the red flagsOnce I can figure out the what is going on in my life and I have put it in the appropriate buckets, I then figure what in the world is at risk of falling through the cracks. These are my red flags. Red flags are the very things that can tank your whole momentum in life. Missed deadlines, constantly missing important boo time, not showing up for your kids games, and providing inconsistent service to your clients are all symptoms of not properly handling your red flags with unfortunate implications. At this time, what are the things that you feel are slipping through the cracks? What are the things that if they slip through the cracks, it will cause you to not operate in excellence? Once you have listed your red flags, you are ready to move onto the next step. Create Your Game PlanCreating your game plan is important, it involves you figuring out what you need to do to help you get your red flags in order. For me, it was about making intentional boo time with the hubby, making sure to put my oldest daughter's home games on the calendar, scheduled "mommy/daughter" time with the youngest, and finally decided it's time to hire a team for Prestige focusing first specific tasks that are little but impact the overall experience of our members and clients. What is your game plan? What can you do to keep those red flags from burning up in flames causing you to go absolutely crazy? Set intentions and commit to them. Whether you decide to enlist help to keep you straight or create a schedule to keep you on task. What are you waiting for? Create your plan now! Do the work!In the words of Nike JUSTDO IT! Now let's gain some clarity on exactly what you are going to do! What should be understood is that you can't keep doing what you were normally doing trying to juggle all your mixed priorities in the air. What you must execute is your game plan. Figure out systems that can help you keep all of your priorities in order. Cancel out time wasters and stealers that are adding to your load of stressors. Figure out if your company has enough revenue to hire or outsource help, if the answer is no, hire an intern and make their job descriptions absolutely clear so they understand how they are to help the business. Don't sit on the game plan saving it for some unspecified day. Do the work now. Each day chipping away at the tower of overwhelming tasks, understanding that time and energy invested in the plan, will result in you having the ability to gaining control on things that otherwise may spiral out of control.
So enough talking about it, it's time to go to work. Are You Ready?!
