5 Things 2018 Taught Me

2017 was a year I was more than happy to see pass on by but 2018 was a pretty dope year. Literally, in the first couple of weeks of 2018 I met awesome girl bosses who have become part of the business bestie circle, my fabulous members of Prestige made some pretty cool accomplishments that were awesome to witness, I had great new clients that I would have never fathomed that I would have an opportunity to work with, and I spoke on platforms that I never knew I have an opportunity to share with some bad bosses!  So when it comes to waving goodbye to 2018, I wave goodbye with sadness but... girl guess what! I'm super excited for the new year that's coming! And I'm bringing with me lessons from 2018 to help me jumpstart this awesome year and of course I want to share these awesome things with you! 

In 2017, I let money dictate what I was doing with my business and I must say I was the most unhappiest little CEO around. In 2018, I stripped the business of all streams of income that did not spark joy in my spirit and became interested in exploring my purpose and how to operate Prestige in my purpose everyday. What I learned was that with following my purpose, God blesses my business with my cup running over.  Fear will cause you to desperately chase checks that will not yield you joy. So spend some time making sure you are taping into your purposepreneur vibes! We even created an apparel line to help you stay motivated. 

Before 2018, I definitely had a thing for planners. I'd buy planners for days, multiple planners in one year lol! But as you can see from the last statement I wouldn't really stay with one planner and I couldn't seem to stay committed to just one planner or complete a year using a planner but 2018 was the year I became addicted to planning out my year, my months, my weeks, and more importantly my days!!! Meeting the creator of Plan Pray and Slay I fell in love with planning out my day and realized that if I didn't plan to complete things, I could forget about that thing even happening. I found that when I was intentional about getting things done , I wouldn't allow little things that would creep up to take precendee over things that I knew needed to get done. So in 2019, I'm going to carry with me the skill of planning with intention and getting -ish done!

My bad girlboss circle increased in 2018 and I have been so thankful for the women bosses who have influenced, supported, and celebrated with me in 2018. Having a network of girl bosses who can be there for you when you are experiencing challenging times, celebrate with you when you have those awesome " I arrived" moments, and  access to resources that will help you move your business forward. I can't imagine not having my network of business besties! In 2019 my girls are coming with me and we are setting bigger and more impactful goals! Along with having a boss circle and planning out goals, I also made sure to embody the process of leveling up! That is something that I am going to continue to do in 2019! Every time I create goals, I want to make sure it is anchored to my purpose and that I dream big!  Leveling up became the theme for me at the end of 2018. I also made an apparel line that embodies the level up mindset and even created a challenge to help women entrepreneurs to level up too! So in 2019, my goal is to make sure that I'm moving forward and progressing in my life as well as my  business in a way that is always talking me to the next level. Remember  bosses, it's a necessity!

The last thing that 2018 has taught me was to keep pushing. When you feel like you are hitting tough times, so what... keep pushing! When you feel like you have met your goals guess what? Keep PUSHING! There is always something new you must learn, a new goal you must accomplish, and a new client you must help. 

So as you chart on your awesome journey of 2019 think about some of those golden lessons 2018 has taught you and be sure to apply them to this new year! You'll need them as you build awesome new experiences this year!
